FIFA Issues 5-Match Suspension to Qatar’s Madibo Following Severe Injury to Canada’s Koné
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has handed Qatar midfielder Assim Madibo a five-match ban following a tackle that resulted in a broken leg for Canada’s Ismaël Koné during their World Cup Group B fixture.
The incident occurred during Canada’s 6-0 win over Qatar in Vancouver. In the 51st minute of the game, Madibo tackled Koné from behind. The challenge earned Madibo a straight red card for serious foul play, but the severity of the consequence led FIFA to expand the mandatory suspension to five games.
